Great, great service. It’s hard to find dentists that accept our insurance from the military. Super clean and friendly. We drive all the way from Middleburg to go here. Our kids loved it, and they are actually looking forward to going back!

What to Expect at Bright Smiles?
Welcome to Bright Smiles Pediatric Dentistry! As parents ourselves, we know that change can make some children feel anxious. Therefore, we have provided a preview of what to expect from a dental visit with Dr. Bright.
Our hope is for this information to prepare your child for their experience and help them feel more comfortable.
- When Should You Visit?
Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)…Opens a new window to the AAP website…, the American Dental Association (ADA)…Opens a new window to the ADA website…, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD)…Opens a new window to the AAPD website… all agree that a “dental home” should be established for every child by their first birthday.
Children who have a “dental home” are more likely to receive appropriate preventative and routine oral health care.
Before your child’s very first visit, it can be helpful to explain to them that Dr. Bright will “count your teeth, check your smile, and check for sugar bugs in your mouth.” Our office practices using pleasant, fun words such as these that help reduce dental anxiety.
- What Occurs at Your First Appointment?
The first visit is designed to introduce your family to our practice and get a full medical, dental, and overall health history of your child. We’ll discuss any of your concerns, both medically and socially, that you feel would be beneficial in helping us make sure your child is comfortable and enjoys their appointment. This is why we always invite parents to accompany their children to both the hygiene and treatment areas.
The initial visit will include:
- A comprehensive exam (tongue, throat, gums, teeth, complete cavity check)
- Professional cleaning
- Fluoride treatment
- Digital x-rays (if needed)
- Review of home brushing and flossing techniques
- What Happens Next?
Your pediatric dentist will outline a customized oral health prevention plan and treatment approach. This is an opportunity for us to discuss what to expect in the months and years to come while covering important topics such as nutrition, thumb sucking, and pacifier habits. When you are happy with the new treatment plan, our team will arrange your next appointment and make sure your little one leaves with a smile.
