Parent Review

My children have been coming to this office for three years. It's always an extremely wonderful and pleasant experience from the moment you enter the door until you leave. For routine cleanings and dental work, all three of my girls love going to the dentist because of Dr. Bright and his staff. Highly recommend.

Specialty Dental Services for Children

Creating big, bright smiles!

Our children’s dentists use their specialized training to care for unique smiles in various ways. Here are some of the quality services they provide:

  • Limited Orthodontics

Our pediatric dental office…See how we are different… is committed to the healthy oral development of all our young patients. One way we help in this regard is by monitoring the growth of your child’s teeth and jaw. During your regular check-up, our pediatric dentist will assess your child’s:

    • Tooth development (check for crowding, gapped, or misaligned teeth)
    • Bite alignment
    • Facial development

The earlier we can identify any issues, the easier it is to correct them. When it comes to orthodontics, early intervention is the key!

  • Sealants

Sealants are an easy and affordable way to prevent future tooth decay in a child’s molars.

Sealants work by filling in the grooves on the biting surfaces of molars and blocking pieces of food (or candy!) that can get stuck and lead to cavities.

We use a clear resin to fill these grooves and maintain the aesthetics of your child’s teeth.

  • Mouthguards

Mouthguards protect your child’s teeth in a non-invasive and comfortable way. Our caring team offers both custom athletic sports guards and nightguards.

Athletic sports guards are ideal for protecting your child from oral trauma while playing their favorite sports.

Nightguards prevent your child from grinding their teeth while they sleep (bruxism). These appliances also facilitate proper jaw development and bone growth.

Your Yulee and St. Johns pediatric dentists offer various colors to make your child’s mouthguards more fun and personalized.

  • Sedation Dentistry

Although we’re blessed with super fun and experienced dental team, some children can still feel anxious about their appointment. To help each patient feel relaxed, we can provide the following sedation options:

Nitrous Oxide: Also known as laughing gas (sounds fun!), this mild sedation is administered via a nasal hood and helps your child relax.

IV sedation: We have in-office board-certified pediatric anesthesiologists, Dr. Maryak and Dr. Kathryn Bietenholz, licensed to administer IV sedation.

  • Extractions

When you hear that your child’s tooth needs to be removed, you may feel anxious about what this entails. But our office can assure you that this service is only performed when absolutely necessary, usually if a tooth will cause future issues or needs to make room for orthodontics.

During an extraction, our primary focus is your child’s comfort. We’ll numb the area surrounding the tooth before all else and can offer sedation options so your child will feel no pain.

  • Space Maintainers

For long-term oral health, your child’s teeth need to erupt in a timely manner. Occasionally, crooked teeth can prevent the space necessary for teeth to come through.

A space maintainer may be fitted to keep the right spaces open and prevent teeth from shifting into these areas. The maintainer is comfortable and will facilitate each permanent tooth as it comes through.
