At Bright Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, we have countless amenities and techniques to help children feel relaxed. But some children need more assistance, which is why we offer sedation dentistry.

Dental sedation can help children who:

  • Suffer from dental anxiety and fear

  • Have sensory issues or trouble sitting still

  • Need a lot of dental work

Sedation helps your child feel at ease, keep their mind off the tasks at hand, and build rapport so they won’t be afraid to return.

It also allows Dr. Bright to complete more treatment in one visit and provide a higher quality of care.

Our Sedation Dentistry Options

Safe and comfortable care for your child.

We offer the following sedation options:

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, AKA laughing gas, is a mild form of sedation dentistry that reduces your child’s anxiety or pain at the dentist. It’s administered via a nasal hood, and the sweet-smelling gas helps your child feel at ease and positive during their appointment.
IV Sedation
IV sedation is ideal for children who are fearful, have high anxiety, or require multiple treatments at once. It enables a smooth procedure and is administered in our office with the help of a licensed pediatric anesthesiologist from PDAAOpen link to PDAA website in a new window. We closely monitor the process while your child is in a sleepy state of deep relaxation.
Sedation dentistry is safe and has been utilized in dental office settings for more than two decades. Additionally, Bright Smiles Pediatric Dentistry of St. Johns, FL works with Pediatric Dental Anesthesia AssociatesOpens link in the new window (PDAA), who are on a mission to provide safe, affordable, and convenient pediatric anesthesia care to children.

Parents' Feedback

I have three children, one with a fear of dentists and another with sensory issues. Dr. Bright and his staff know exactly how to make them comfortable and make the dentist FUN! They have all gone above and beyond for my family, even coming in on a Sunday for a chipped tooth! If I could go to the dentist here as an adult, I would! They are absolutely the BEST!
